Side Hustle Spark 274: Free ebook–Fix those business blogging mistakes

A portion of HubSpot’s ebook on business blogging

HubSpot and General Assembly are offering this 8-Part Planner to Get Your Blog Up & Running to Grow Your Business. A checklist is included.

I know I’ve shared other blogging resources before, but different tools resonate with different users, so it’s worth sending these along.

I just started reading it, but I’ve already run across some interesting items:

— Companies who maintain a blog receive 97% more links to their website.

— B2B marketers who blog get 67% more leads than those who don’t.

— Marketers who prioritize their blog are 13x more likely to see positive ROI.

I say it’s worth the time and HubSpot is a proven and reputable resource.

Side Hustle Spark 273: Customer satisfaction brainstorm list (240+ items)

Here is today’s brainstorming list of 240+ terms .

First suggestion: Have fun with this content. See what’s helpful, but don’t sweat over it.

Possible uses of a resource like this…

— Combine terms.

— Find common themes.

— Which terms appeal to sense of humor?

— Which terms communicate a more serious approach?

— Which terms suggest a goal or objective you hadn’t previously considered?

— Find all the terms that relate to ‘customer problems’.

— Find all the terms that relate to ‘solutions to those problems’.

— Find words from which you can use to create your own new words or phrases.

— Find word(s) that speak to pop culture.

— Pare down. Pare down some more.

— Even better…set a timer and give yourself 10 minutes to generate first-draft marketing or blog copy using list items.

Side Hustle Spark 272: Annuity.org–Not all passive income requires a side hustle

A reader recently pointed me to annuity.org, which reminds us that sometimes we can just let some stashed cash do the work for us.

Passive Income Streams by Kim Borwick explains a few of the benefits of income sources requiring financial research and strategy vs. the ‘produce-and-market’ approach of many side hustlers.

A few highlights:

— “A passive income stream can mitigate the effects of financial shocks, especially for people in retirement who are on a fixed income.”

— “For example, diversification lets investors achieve two goals simultaneously: increase their rate of return and reduce risk.”

— “Similarly, laddering can eliminate the rigidity of an annuity contract, allowing you to take advantage of rising interest rates.”

— “These income sources can allow you to save for retirement or meet current financial obligations” without “the lack of quality family time and personal connection common among dual-earner households (including side hustlers).”

— The author closes with a list of additional ideas for passive income, many of which you might have considered, but in this world of ‘info-barrage’, a few reminders never hurt. PLUS, conditions and circumstances in 2021 change so fast, an idea ignored one day might be just the ticket for extra cash the next.

Side Hustle Spark 270: Naming your products? Here’s some help.

Developing a product or service but can’t seem to get past what writers call ‘a working title’?
