Side Hustle Spark 310: focusmate.com

I thought I would explore the ‘benefits’ of social pressure, precommitment, and accountability.

So I just signed up with focusmate.com.

My other blog shares more about it.

If you’re encountering procrastination and resistance–even with New Year’s resolutions still fresh on the page–give this a try.

Three free sessions per week…just think how much you can get done in 150 minutes in the ‘presence’ of a remote work partner who is hammering away at his/her own project.

My first appointment is this coming Friday. Will let you know how it turns out.

Reminder: No affiliate links. Just thought it might be something that might help you crank out the next best seller/mega-corporation/cinematic masterpiece.

Side Hustle Spark 283: 322+ FREE Business Resources (Marie Forleo)

How could I?

I merrily traipse along sharing good side hustler stuff with you and it took me 280+ posts before I shared something from Marie Forleo?

I’m even reading her Everything is Figureoutable book and it didn’t dawn on me that she should have been one of the first people this blog should have showcased.

If I didn’t have to live with myself, I’d fire me ASAP.

Apologies done, let’s move on to her 322+ FREE Business Tools & Resources.

She shares resources via 9 categories, each of which could qualify as an online course.

1. Make a Plan

2. Create a Website

3. Design Your Website, Logo & More

4. Support Your Customers

5. Market Your Business

6. Collaborate With Your Team

7. Be More Productive

8. Manage Your Business

9. Learn New Things

She also offers this massive blog post in spreadsheet format.

Side Hustle Spark 275: Can you ‘do it all’?

Make sure you take a look at this site’s resources–a generous supply of expertise and information.

Julia McCoy of expresswriters.com does a nice job of pointing some solo entrepreneurs to the truth:

You can’t do it all.

I hope this post helps steer your content efforts in the right direction.

Side Hustle Spark 256: Keep generating ideas…marketing, promotion, products.

Photo by CJ Dayrit on Unsplash

I ran across this photo and it immediately revived my appreciation for Become An Idea Machine by Claudia Azula Altucher and James Altucher.

A few quotes from this ‘best-bargain-around’** book’s foreword by James:

“…idea generation, of the good kind, the kind that helps you AND OTHERS, which is the type you will exercise in this book, is worth ten times that, or more.”

“You can’t trust the old style of thinking anymore…You have to come up with a new way of thinking, a new way of having ideas…we can train it (the mind) to work for us, and to move us in the direction of a life of fulfillment. One day at a time.”

“The way is this: Come up with ten ideas a day.
That’s it.”

“Coming up with ten ideas a day is like exercise. And exercise makes the idea muscle grow stronger.”

** The Kindle version is 99 cents. Yes, 99 cents! For a 251-page ebook with lots of…you guessed it, IDEAS!
The link to the book is an affiliate link. If you happen to buy the book through that link, it doesn’t NOT affect the price, but it does give me a small commission, which I’ll be using to buy my small island in the Caribbean…or the yacht I’ll need to get to that island…or my therapist who’s exhausted himself trying to dispel my daily delusions.

Side Hustle Spark 244: HubSpot’s Free Business and Marketing Resources

Click the screenshot above for a 90-second preview of some of the 611 items for download from HubSpot.

I downloaded free ebook templates and, as the video shows, a digital advertising workbook.

Other resources that caught my interest:

  • How Topic Clusters Generate Search Engine Interest
  • How to Build a Brand ebook
  • Content Marketing Workbook

Note: Some items are provided by business partners, so those will require a separate sign-up.

The author, T. Haag, is now 240+ sidehustlecurator posts into this little hunt-and-share project. As he works on his own stuff, he likes learning:

Hoping that you find something useful among these posts.

Side Hustle Spark 243: Blog Topic Generator from webfx.com

CLICK THE SCREENSHOT ABOVE FOR A 2-MINUTE DEMO
OF WEBFX.COM’S TOPIC GENERATOR

I know there are other blog topic generators out there, but I really preferred this one over the others.

It didn’t limit me to a single week’s worth of possible titles and it was seamless in its delivery.

The ‘Google This Idea’ button is another plus.

And think of it…you don’t have to limit yourself to your side hustle topics.

Use it to come up with new product and service ideas.

If you dabble in fiction, why not enter ‘Big Bad Wolf’ and see what ideas emerge?
