With its updated email marketing suggestions list, HubSpot checks in with some very useful content for side hustlers.

Chances are some folks haven’t considered a number of these items, including:

— The 5-Second Test

— Keep your email between 500 and 650 pixels wide

— Optimize the email’s preview text

Hubspot’s Matthew Brown posted this on August 3:

How We Built the Strategy for Our New Flagship Podcast

Key learnings from this post:

— In the formation stage, the team listened to 20 high-performing business podcasts. From that research, they gained four insights, including:

** 87% of the hosts were male.

** Very few shows used audience engagement tactics to connect host with listeners.

— “After exploring various formats, we went with a hybrid format — Chat Cast + Interview.”

— “Engineers perfect the sound of your show.”

— There are eight key components to a podcast team:

Executive producer

Senior producer

Producer

Editor

Host

Managing producer

Engineer

Editorial director

***

Yes, for most of us, eight key roles…oy! But at least learning why these are important can help you prioritize as you plan for and build your own podcast.

I hope this helps as you explore reaching your audience via audio.

Side Hustle Spark 274: Free ebook–Fix those business blogging mistakes

A portion of HubSpot’s ebook on business blogging

HubSpot and General Assembly are offering this 8-Part Planner to Get Your Blog Up & Running to Grow Your Business. A checklist is included.

I know I’ve shared other blogging resources before, but different tools resonate with different users, so it’s worth sending these along.

I just started reading it, but I’ve already run across some interesting items:

— Companies who maintain a blog receive 97% more links to their website.

— B2B marketers who blog get 67% more leads than those who don’t.

— Marketers who prioritize their blog are 13x more likely to see positive ROI.

I say it’s worth the time and HubSpot is a proven and reputable resource.

I downloaded free ebook templates and, as the video shows, a digital advertising workbook.

Other resources that caught my interest:

  • How Topic Clusters Generate Search Engine Interest
  • How to Build a Brand ebook
  • Content Marketing Workbook

Note: Some items are provided by business partners, so those will require a separate sign-up.
